Approaches:
From the Brunnental car park, hiking trail 433 takes about 2.5 hours through Katzengraben to the Steyrerhütte
The hut can also be reached from the "Sepp-Huber-Hütte" mountain hut via path 431 with the intermediate destination Kasberg, approx. 3 hours.
The Steyrerhütte is also a stage destination on the Salzkammergut Berge Seen Trail in the alpine stages.

From 1 November to 30 April, open Friday to Sunday and on public holidays.
Additionally, open continuously from 26 December to 6 January.
From 1 May to 14 September, open Wednesday to Sunday and on public holidays.
Closed in autumn due to the hunting season from 15 September to 15 October.
