Almegg Castle is noted for being one of Upper Austria´s oldest castles. Baron Franz von Handel and his wife Marie von Guaita purchased the Castle in the middle of the last century. Ever since this it has been in the hands of the Handel Family.
Today the Castle is used for private purposes. Each year during the warm summer months, the Fortress serves a stunning backdrop for a rich variety of cultural events. The Almegg Cultural Forum then runs exhibitions, concerts, readings, discussion panels and more.
