When the famous can-can is danced in hell, when godfather Jupiter disguises himself as a fly to seduce his adored Eurydice, who in turn gets bored with her husband and is abducted by Pluto, the devil himself, when the Greek gods in heaven become rebels - and all this in front of the eyes of public opinion, then, dear audience, you are in the universe of Orpheus in the Underworld.
This masterpiece with the incomparable music by Jaques Offenbach is regarded as the original operetta par excellence and is certainly one of the funniest and most frivolous ever written.
Intendant Thomas Enzinger will stage this ingenious, hilarious centrepiece of operetta and bring it to the stage in Bad Ischl for the first time.
