Bad Aussee Alpine Garden and Dragonfly Trail

Bad Aussee, Steiermark, Österreich

Take time to enjoy the oldest alpine garden in Styria.

But in the quiet, frosty winter months, nature rests – no flowers open, no play of colors brightens the landscape. Everything waits patiently for the warmth that brings forth new life.

Experience the tranquility of nature to the fullest.

The Bad Aussee Alpengarten was founded in 1913 by the then Pastor Dr. Selle at Ischlberg in a disused quarry. After more than 100 years of a changeful history, the municipality of Bad Aussee offers its visitors a show garden at the highest level.

In the well-kept facility, approximately 2,000 different plant species from around the world are cultivated on 12,000 m2. In the magical atmosphere of the former quarry, surrounded by a fascinating plant world, visitors dive into a sheltered world as it once was, and draw strength from the tranquility and deceleration they experience there.

The nature-oriented design of the entire area provides inspiration for all plant enthusiasts for their own gardens at home.

The extraordinary playground entertains both children and adults and rounds off the visit to the Alpengarten.

The garden also offers older individuals the opportunity to explore the wonderful world of native and exotic plants effortlessly on well-maintained paths.

The gardening couple is happy to answer any questions related to gardening and plants.

Guided tours and workshops are available upon request.
