An infinite number of findings prove that Eberstalzell is an ancient Roman settlement.
The place was first mentioned in historical documents of Kremsmünster Abbey in 777. Monks of Kremsmünster erected the very first church which was destroyed later.
At the end of the 10th century the new, wooden church was built and consecrated to St. Ulrich. During the 15th century the old church was replaced by a bigger stone building featuring a beautiful spandrel area.
In the 18th century the tower was remodeled again by adding a double cupola on top of the bell tower. Between 1866 and 1882 the church was completely renovated and got its new-Gothic interior.
Four outstandingly remarkable glass windows were installed in the church´s central part. Its wonderful main nave is divided into two parts by several columns. The arches and rib vaults are lovingly decorated in late Gothic style.
