Elmsee Lake

- Suitable for groups
The Elmsee is a remote mountain lake in the Toten Gebirge near Grundlsee in Styria – a quiet natural jewel for experienced hikers and nature lovers.
The Elmsee is located at an altitude of approximately 1,623 m in the southern Toten Gebirge within the municipality of Grundlsee, Ausseerland, Styria.
The small, surface drainage-less Trogsee is nestled in a karst landscape made of Dachstein limestone and is drained underground through the Lahngangsee into the Toplitzsee.
At the foot of the Elmsee lies the Pühringerhütte, a shelter of the Austrian Alpine Club, which serves as a starting point for further high alpine tours.
The Elmsee is a rewarding destination for experienced mountain hikers who appreciate the tranquility and authenticity of the alpine landscape of the Ausseerland.
During the summer months in suitable weather. Please check with the Pühringerhütte for the weather situation – thank you!
